Do you want to release something? (weight, anxiety, worry, stress, fear)
Do you want to gain something? (confidence, motivation, self-worth, or a better nights sleep)
Do you struggle with trying to aim for your goals… You’ll start tomorrow… but when does tomorrow come?
Do you find yourself saying you will start a diet on Monday…but it ends Wednesday? Or you will start the next day… and then the next day....
Do you lie awake at night stuck in a loop thinking you could have, should have, would have done something… or said something differently… but you can’t change the past!
Are you worried about what people may think of you… or how you come across and overplay that thought over and over again?
Is a particular fear or phobia stopping you from living your day- to -day life, or preventing new experiences?
If any of this applies to you then you are not alone. Many people have experienced one of these issues within their lifetime. However, when these issues become fairly consistent and are affecting your quality of life, then it’s time to seek therapy.
Hypnotherapy is a well sought-after and scientific based therapy that uses hypnosis in a therapeutic setting- it is a solution focused. Hypnosis is a state of mind; a relaxed state that is brought about by a set of techniques which enhances your concentration and increases your responsiveness to positive suggestions to make beneficial change. A relaxed state is where your unconscious mind is active, and our conscious mind drifts off, just like before you fall asleep, but not asleep. With hypnotherapy I will guide you into this relaxed state of mind where we make positive suggestions to create new patterns of behaviour that you want to see.
We are all capable of hypnosis, in fact you have taken yourself into self-hypnosis thousands of times, it is natural and happens many times throughout the day. Have you ever gone to a shop and pulled the handle of the door, but the sign says push? Or have you found yourself driving to a friend's house but you find yourself driving to work? Perhaps maybe arriving at your destination but cannot remember driving the journey? Would it surprise you to know you were in a relaxed state where you were operating out of your unconscious mind when opening a door, or driving to a location without any thought. Your unconscious mind is there taking in the learning of the day, so you do not have to relearn everything all the time. It would take up too much time to relearn opening the door everyday, so the unconscious mind stores this learning and you may bypass the “pull” sign and push the door.
How does hypnotherapy work for you? The unconscious mind stores your learning, however, if you did something once, such as, drink one wine to unwind, try one cigarette because of stress, eat chocolate when you feel down that one time. If you do this once nothing much would happen. It would be like you are walking across a grass verge, and going over that path once will knock over some grass blades down, but with a bit of wind the grass will pop back up. However, if you keep eating chocolate whenever you feel down, or you keep trying cigarettes and having more than one glass of wine after a hard day, repeating this behaviour over and over again, the grass verge you have been walking across creates a muddied pathway. This muddied pathway is a neural pathway which is created by the behaviour we wanted to try once, but now it is an automatic response settled in your unconscious mind. So you may now think “I’ve had a long hard day at work, I want a glass of wine”. With hypnotherapy, we cannot remove the muddied pathway, but we can make a new muddied pathway (neural pathway) through hypnosis counteracting, removing or reducing the issue you now find problematic. Hypnotherapy is a highly successful therapy that creates change in behaviour, habit, thoughts and feelings.
Do you tend to feel anxious in your day-to-day life and nothing seems to alleviate that nervous tummy?
Do you feel overwhelmed and overthink your finances, your relationships, your future? What if this happen… What if that happens… and you find yourself quickly stressing over the worse case scenario? But the worst case scenario does not happen?
Anxiety, stress and worry are perfectly normal and have their uses in life. Feeling slightly stressed, anxious or worried may support you preparing for a driving test, or a job interview and after the event has happened the feelings should melt away. However, for some people anxiety, stress and worry can be all consuming and dominate your world, so I can help you take back control, whether it is mild or severe anxiety, stress or worry. Hypnosis is an extremely effective way of bringing about deep relaxation which relaxes the body and mind and reduces the symptoms you experience.
The physical symptoms of anxiety stems from the fight, flight responses of the body, nowadays we do not experience the predatory danger of being some carnivore's food, but in today’s society, we experience different issues, we all tend to worry and stress about money, relationships, health and work and our body can interprets this as a threat. With hypnotherapy I can help you by reducing your flight/ flight response from high alert to a manageable level that allows you to take control of your mind and body.
Sometimes do you feel so hopeless you're not sure how to get the fog to lift off your life?
Depression is a lot more than feeling low in mood for a few days, and having bouts of feeling unhappy. Depression often persists for weeks and months with lasting feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or feeling numb to the world which can make you feel lethargic, affects your appetite, sex drive and quality of sleep. Using Hypnotherapy and other techniques is an effective way of tackling the symptoms of depression and tackling the root cause of what keeps you in a depressed state. Whether you experience mild depression (persistent low mood), or severe depression (maybe you find it difficult to exist in this world), I can help you to lift the fog that may loom over your life.
Tired of feeling uncomfortable in your own skin? Do you hide away from cameras or contort your body to get a better angle to take “flattering” pictures?
Maybe the excessive weight is making you struggle with your health, like struggling to tie your shoes or climb the stairs without getting out of breath?
Whatever point you have gotten to seek help to release weight, you have come to the right place. I can help you to get to your desired weight and keep it off without depriving yourself. When you hear the word diet, what do you think? Deprivation, boring, restrictive? Dieting is unrealistic and will not last long when you cut out food you like to eat.
When you diet, either you lessen calories or cut out a food group. Your brain gets the signal that your body is going into starvation mode and instead of releasing fat, your body is trying to store fat. Your body is an amazing vessel and your mind is an amazing instructor because all it is bothered about is your survival, so when your restrict your food, your body cannot tell the difference if your doing it on purpose to lose weight for a holiday or if you are in a famine, so it will do what is best for your body and hold on what weight it has. On a diet you will lose weight but when you start to eat “normally” again the weight will come back on because your body is cautious if another famine will come about. If you're a yo-yo dieter your body is all the more used to this starvation mode and will do even more to keep the fat on your body which often leaves you heavier than before.
Food has very little to do with your weight, but it has everything to do with what goes on inside your mind. Again, if your mind thinks you're in a famine your body will store fat. Your weight has also to do with your mind in terms of why do we eat when we are not hungry, the habits you form from when you're small, and eating to change your feelings. In hypnotherapy and using other techniques I will help you to find the triggers which keep on excess weight and support you to release weight to the size you want. We can get you feeling happier in your own skin, and accepting your body and the journey you are on, from the beginning to the desired results.
Have you got a presentation to give? A best man's speech to deliver? A driving test to pass? A job interview to attend?
Or do you find yourself questioning your thoughts and feelings and whether they have a place in the world?
Do you find yourself trying to “prove” yourself and seek validation from others to feel better?
Do you have difficulty asserting your needs and wants, may you feel you do not deserve it.
Self-esteem, be it high or low tends to be a generator of a self-fulfilling prophecy meaning a prediction that comes true based on your belief and expectations on who and what we consciously and unconsciously think we are. No one can bypass their need for self-esteem and in today's world it is an important psychological need that increases the likelihood that you will meet other needs in your life and determine your success. Hypnotherapy is linked to success in improving performance in any area you desire, like getting that promotion, improving in sports performance or passing exams because relaxation is an important element. Relaxation gives you the ability to focus so with Hypnotherapy and other techniques I can help you boost confidence in specific areas you need to succeed and raise your self-esteem.
Have you tried kicking the habit, but found yourself smoking again?
You are not alone. According to Healthline 90% of smokers who try to quit ultimately begin smoking again at some point down the line and 75% of these people will try and quit again. Healthline also states that most people who quit on their own go back to smoking within the first month. I wonder if this sounds similar to your journey, you quit smoking but maybe you attend a social event and you give into temptation? It seems like just one won’t harm you, but then you’ve had another one and another, then just one more. The next day you may face stress at work and you find yourself going for a cigarette?
The problem with smoking is that it is undeniably detrimental to your health with the NHS (2024) reporting a staggering 506,100 hospital admissions attributed to smoking (10% incline to previous studies) and 74,600 deaths attributed to smoking in 2019 in the UK (3% declined to previous studies). Even though we are 5 years into the future and the stats may vary, it is undeniable that it causes ill-health that can be detrimental to your life and the need to quit has become urgent. I get it, I know what some concerns can be, last time you tried to stop smoking you’d comfort eat, but it does not have to be that way. With hypnotherapy I can help you become a non-smoker through breaking the triggers and cravings which encourage you to reach for that cigarette, and support you to find a different way to help you to become a non-smoker without replacing it with another unhealthy coping mechanism, but one that works for you. With Hypnotherapy you can become a non-smoker with one session.
Anxiety generates the fight, flight and freeze response because your body perceives danger. The unconscious mind reacts, your heart rate goes up, your breathing becomes rapid, feeling nauseous, you may even tremble. Your unconscious mind operates in black or white, it either is or is not. When your unconscious mind perceives threat, a situation, object, place or animal is or is not threatening. When your unconscious mind decides what is dangerous, it will remain so even when the situation is long over. This is the process where a phobia starts.
Fear is a necessary part of human nature, it is often associated with a negative emotion that can be paralysing. However, some fear is good as it helps us avoid an animal attack. Bad fears are irrational and redundant; these fears stop you from doing thing that don’t pose any actual threat, such as going to new places, or trying new foods. These can be overcome.
A phobia is an excessive fear of an object or situation that often has a major impact on a person's life which is overwhelming and debilitating. If a phobia becomes very severe a person may organise their life around avoiding the thing that causes them anxiety, as well as restricting their day-to-day life. The phobia may be acknowledged as irrational, but the person still cannot control their anxiety.
Hypnotherapy will help you to overcome the fear responses so you can enjoy life once again.
Sleep problems effect a staggering 1 in 3 of us who are reporting difficulty falling asleep, or staying asleep long enough. Sleep is essential for our physical and mental health, and not getting enough quality sleep can have a detrimental effect on our health. Sleep deprivation is linked with cardiac issues, diabetes, poor mood and an inability to control our emotions. With the use of Hypnotherapy lets help you and get you back into an undisturbed sleep pattern and into better health.
