Yes, any normal functioning brain can be hypnotised. You can be in a light to deep relaxed state of mind (a.k.a- hypnotic state). This can look like you being aware of what is happening/ what is being said. Or you can be in a dream-like state where you might not remember what has been said. How deeply relaxed you are is not linked to how successful the hypnosis is.
In short, no. Staged Hypnosis is for entertainment purposes, I use hypnosis in therapy. You are in total control. Your brain is wired in a way that even at a subconscious level you cannot be made to violate your own morals and values. You cannot be made to do anything you do not want to do, and at any moment you can bring yourself around at any point in the session.
It is recommended before we start the Hypnosis segment of the session that you attend to any needs you have, be it needing to quench a thirst, or use the toilet. These needs can occupy your mind and brings you into an alert state of mind, rather than the relaxed state we are aiming to achieve.
However, there are some needs that arise during sessions. For example; itchy nose, needing to cough, or thoughts popping into your mind. Whilst relaxing the body and mind in Hypnosis, it is normal for your body to experience sensations on the body as a part of relaxation. If you experience an itch- scratch it, if you need to cough, cough. The same goes with thoughts, allows them to be. Surpressing actions or the thoughts will bring your mind into more of an alert-state that can hinder the hypnosis.
Absolutely! The actual session is perfect for online therapy, you can relax in the comfort of your own home which often enhances the experience.
